New ‘Annabelle: Creation’ Trailer Reveals Its Evil Roots

Warner Bros. released the new trailer for their upcoming horror film Annabelle: Creation, which finally reveals the origin of the creepy doll. The original spinoff of The Conjuring universe took place in present day, whereas the sequel goes back to the evil roots of one of the world’s most horrifying.

I was never able to catch the original Annabelle, but heard somewhat mixed thoughts on it. The Conjuring films are some of the best horror films of the past decade, and with the kind of mythology that was set up in those stories, it made sense for Warner Bros. to capitalize on it and create a universe around these stories. While I didn’t really have an interest in the first, this new trailer peaked my interest a bit more than I was expecting. Used in the right time or place, origin stories can be very strong. Not just that, but from the first time we saw Annabelle in The Conjuring, we’ve all wanted to know how the doll became possessed. And as long as the scares are good enough to keep audiences attention, the sequel should do just fine.

Watch the new trailer below and after doing so, give me your thoughts in the comments. Do you scare easily? How’d you like the trailer? Are you a fan of The Conjuring universe? Directed by David. F Sandberg, Annabelle: Creation opens on August 11th, 2017 and stars Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Anne Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Lou Lou Safran, Samara Lee, Tayler Buck and Miranda Otto.

In Annabelle 2, several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
