Time to freak out die-hards, a brand new poster for Justice League and it arrives with some nerdy news. The marketing for Zack Snyder’s comic book epic has only kept one character out of its marketing completely to this point, Henry Cavill’s Superman. Now it makes sense as to why he would be hidden away from trailers and other promos because, well, SPOILER, he died at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But obviously, as everyone knows, he isn’t going to stay dead. There’s no absolute way they do a DC universe or Justice League movie without the man of steel, like come on now. So truthfully, it was only a matter of time until we saw him.
Since his sacrificial death at the end of Batman v Superman, the question has always been which Superman we’d be seeing? Will it be the classic hero who stands for everything good in America or could it possibly be the all black Supes who arises a very different kind of man compared to the one who went into the grave? I’ve always leaned towards the latter for the majority of the film, but for this new poster, it’s classic Kal-El in his red and blue, the man who will eventually step forward and lead the JLA.
It is a strongly built poster, I just wish it was something different from what we’ve seen already. This set up and background has already been used for character posters and others. I know we’ll get a different kind of poster later down the line, hopefully, but a movie this big with these kind of characters and the stakes it has deserves a variation of posters leading up to its release, not the same blend of colors with the same lettered background.
On the flip side of things, the drop of this poster also brought the news that next month’s San Diego Comic-Con will in fact bring a brand new trailer for Justice League with it. It’s not surprising to fans that this was going to happen, but now everyone can take a breath because when Warner Bros. sits down for their DC panel in Hall H on the Saturday afternoon/evening, we’ll all be witnessing a new look at what hopes to be a great Justice League film. But hopefully, as this universe’s film have done in the past, hopefully it doesn’t reveal too much as I’m sure we all want to see as much as possible in that theater for the first time.
What’re your thoughts? First off, how do you like the new poster? Same old same old or does it still get you excited? How about the trailer? Will you be eating it up over and over again or holding back in case of spoilers? Snyder’s Justice League will be released on November 17th, 2017 and stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Amy Adams, J.K. Simmons, Connie Nielsen, Jesse Eisenberg, Willem Dafoe, and Ciaran Hinds.
