First ‘Daddy’s Home 2’ Trailer Brings Mel Gibson & John Lithgow to Town

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for their Fall comedy Daddy’s Home 2. The sequel brings back Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, but rather than battling it out with each other, they’re now dealing with their own dad’s, played by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow.

Before I even clicked play I wasn’t all that interested in this one solely based on the outing of the first. I just couldn’t get into it, at all. I was disinterested from the beginning, and it didn’t stop through its 90+ minutes. But I must say, I was a little more surprised by what this trailer had to offer. Now it’s very much a standard trailer, but it features more than expected good laughs. For me, that’s because it seems like it will be less of Will Ferrel and more of Wahlberg, Gibson, and Lithgow. It’ll be interesting if the actual movie does the same or if it falls back into the trap of focusing on the old comedy of Ferrell.

Check out the first trailer below and make sure to give me your thoughts in the comments. Do you feel the same as me? Did you like the first? Excited for the sequel? Sean Anders’ Daddy’s Home 2 will be released on November 10th, 2017 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Mel Gibson, John Lithgow, and Linda Cardellini.

Father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) have joined forces to provide their kids with t he perfect Christmas. Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho Dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s ultra-affectionate and emotional Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.
