First ‘Wind River’ Trailer: Jeremy Renner & Elizabeth Olsen Hunt for a Killer

The Weinstein Company has finally released the first official trailer for the film festival hit Wind RiverWind River marks the filmmaking debut for Taylor Sheridan, the screenwriter responsible for Oscar nominated films Sicario and Hell or High Water. It’s not surprising that Sheridan’s feature film debut walked away from the Sundance Film Festival with more than just a standing ovation. Sheridan is one of, if not the hottest name in Hollywood right now. For at least myself, that makes this film one of the most exciting for the rest of 2017.

The films follows wildlife service agent Cody Lambert, played by Jeremy Renner, on assignment when he comes across the body of a young Native American woman in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. The woman’s death brings back rough memories for Lambert as his own daughter was also found in the snow, but also his complicated relationship with the local Native Americans as he married a Native American woman. When rookie female FBI agent Jane Banner is called to the crime scene, she must team with Lambert to avenge the girl’s death.

As usual with films from Te Weinstein Company, it looks fantastic. The trailer gives you everything you need to know going into a screening. Just as with his most recent films, the story and characters look like they’ll be the bright spots. And I’m really liking the on screen pairing Renner and Olsen have become as of late. Most will know them best as their time as Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch in Marvel’s cinematic universe, but they are both really strong actors outside of those roles, especially when put together.

Check out the first trailer for Wind River below and after doing so, let me know what you think of it. Did you like the trailer? How about Renner and Olsen as a duo? Sheridan’s Winder River will be released on August 4th, 2017 and stars Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, and Jon Bernthal.
