As the local DCEU enthusiast for Apocaflix! Movies, please allow me to breathe a sigh of relief. These past couple of months have been rough, as the DCEU has lost directors, writers, while also being victim to numerous rumors, some of which contradicted other rumors that big sites ran with as “news bits”. To finally see that Aquaman has made it through development and begun filming, with little to no bumps, is refreshing!
For the longest time, the Aquaman character has been the joke of DC comics, but thanks to the casting of Jason Momoa, along with the character’s rebirth in the New 52 comics, the character has now become a force to reckon with for both entertainment outlets. What was once a joke, is now potentially the biggest gem for Warner Bros and this DC universe.
To celebrate the start of filming on the solo movie, an official logo for the movie has been released, along with a tweet from director James Wan. The film is slated to release in December 21st, 2018, and stars Amber Heard (as Queen Mera of Atlantis), Patrick Wilson (as Ocean Master, Ora), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (as Black Manta), Willem Dafoe (as Vulko), Dolph Lundgren (as King Nereus) and Nicole Kidman (as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna).
