First Trailer for Edgar Wright’s ‘Baby Driver’ May Be the Best Thing You’ve Seen This Year

No matter your feelings towards Edgar Wright’s films, no one can disagree with the complete uniqueness behind each project the writer and director touches. Next up on his list is Baby Driver, which just revealed its first trailer as it makes its debut at SXSW 2017. The music driven crime thriller stars Ansel Elgort as a young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his music to not just drown out the ringing in his ears, but be the best in the game. And in true Edgar Wright form, the entire film is paced to the beat of his music, creating an entirely different kind of film experience.

This film is easily on of 2017’s most anticipated, and the trailer delivers that kind of feeling and then some. Every beat of the footage has a purpose, and while some may argue it reveals a little too much, I think it’s just right. We’ve never gone into a Wright film wondering if too much footage has been shown, rather walking out with how tightly knit the story is and how he is able to come up with a style of humor that just seems to never get old. It’s also worth noting that Wright’s films always seems to have a visual sparkle to them, with Baby Driver being no different, although a very different type of film compared to his so-called “Cornetto Trilogy.”

Check out the first trailer for Baby Driver below and after doing so, let us know your thoughts in the comments. Are you an Edgar Wright fan? What is your favorite film of his? How excited are you for his next? Wright’s Baby Driver rides into theaters on August 11th, 2017 and stars Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza Gonzalez, Jon Hamm, and Jaimie Foxx.

A talented, young getaway driver relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
