As its been teased over the last few days, Warner Bros. finally unveiled the new trailer for their upcoming DC movie Wonder Woman. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman follows the Amazonian princess Diana Prince as she travels to the outside world for the first time when her home and the world at large is threatened, fulfilling a destiny long ago bestowed on her by the Gods and taking the first steps to become the hero that is Wonder Woman.
With the movie still just under 3 months away, it is a bit surprising that WB and DC have already shot through three trailer for this film, but then again, they did the same thing for both Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. Anyway, this new trailer doesn’t reveal a ton of new footage, with most of it coming within the first minute as it focuses on the home of Diana Prince and the famous Amazonian warriors, Themyscira. From there, it includes a bunch of quick shots, most of which we’ve seen time and time again through previous trailers. With that said, the footage still looks really.
Patty Jenkins, who is known for the 2003 film Monster and her stints on some popular television shows, looks to have a solid grasp on what Wonder Woman is. It’s visually stunning with smooth, old school action that compliments it very well. While I’m still slightly hesitant on the movie because of how the DCEU has handled itself thus far, I have much more confident in this entry than I did the last because of one reason, it doesn’t have to play by the universe’s rules. It’s set decades before any major events happen with the DC characters, which means its story doesn’t have to worry about connecting to the present day events. Hopefully that means great things for this movie, because not just fans deserve for this film to kick major ass, but the character of Wonder Woman as well, as this movie has been 75 years in the making.
Take a look at the new trailer below and after doing so, let us know your thoughts in the comments. Is a third trailer too much? How does the footage look to you? Are you looking forward to it or did past DCEI movies leave a bad taste in your mouth? Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2nd, 2017 and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, and Saïd Taghmaoui.
