Clips: ‘Power Rangers’, ‘Life’ & ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’

Another week means another batch of clips! Below I’ve grabbed a batch of new clips from this past week, including a few upcoming releases that could either make a splash or belly flop big time.

Power Rangers is one of this months biggest movies, not just because it’s been a huge property for decades, but because the trailers have actually looked kind of awesome. Minus a few things here and there (Goldar), the long-awaited big screen adaptation of the teens turned superheroes looks like it could be a solid good time in the theater. Taking away the completely cheesy aspect of it, Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) looks like he has a lock on this story in the modern day telling it desperately needs to succeed.

Life, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation breakout Rebecca Ferguson, is a cool looking sci-fi horror movie that has a cool and pretty unused aspect in the horror genre, space. Taking the concept of life on Mars and adding scares is something that will definitely get butts in the seat. The trailers have look good, but it’s the involvement of Gyllenhaal, Reynolds, and Ferguson that peek my interest. They all jumped on this movie for a reason, right?

Lastly is The Zookeeper’s Wife, which stars the absolutely fantastic Jessica Chastain. Based on the pretty incredible true story, this film looks like it could be the Ex Machina of this year: the Oscar contender early on in the year. But that might just be me, because I’m a total fanboy of Chastain, both performance wise and looks. Wowza! In a month full of blockbusters, as well as the months that follow, a story such as The Zookeeper’s Wife should be a nice break.
