New ‘Alien: Covenant’ Trailer Reveals Ridley Scott’s Terrifying New Monster

A brand new trailer has been released for 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott’s new action horror movie Alien: Covenant. The highly anticipated Prometheus follow-up (kind of sequel?) traces the steps of the crew of the ship Covenant, who discover a new and promising world that turns out to be dangerous full of deadly surprises with one survivor, Michael Fassbender’s David.

When Covenant was first announced and the whole “is it Alien? Is it not Alien?” thing turned me off this project for quite a while. But as the footage drew closer and its first teaser was released, I became much more intrigued with this concept than I thought I would. And the main reason is because it looks to be going back to its horror roots. We all appreciate what Ridley Scott tried to do with Prometheus, but no matter what anyone says, he tried to make an Alien movie that wasn’t called Alien and it just didn’t work. So to see Scott here the noise and return the franchise to what it’s suppose to be, it’s promising.

As for the look, I’m not 100% sold on the look of the new Xenomorph just yet. I understand that these creatures have probably evolved over time just as every other species out there, but I don’t want a Prometheus scenario all over again. But outside of that, I’m pretty sold on the concept. The action looks great, the characters look strong, and I’m interested in where the story goes after the closing minutes of Prometheus. Like, how exactly is it connected? And of course, the horror side of the movie. The scare factor looks to return to a form that Scott made the franchise famous for all those years ago.

Check out the new scare filled trailer for Alien: Covenant below and after doing so, let us know your thoughts in the comments. Do you like what you from the new Alien? Do you wish it was a direct sequel to Prometheus? Are you glad it’s a bit more on the horror side this time? Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant hits theaters on May 19th, 2017 and stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, and Demián Bichir.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
