2017 is all about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and while fans are clamoring for anything they can get on the highly, highly anticipated saga sequel, fans are also looking forward to what’s on the horizon for the galaxy far, far away, what comes next: the young Han Solo spinoff.
While many hardcore fans were skeptical at first to see a Star Wars spinoff focus on a side of the galaxy we already know, that has been turned around the last few months with the bringing on of Chris Miller and Phil Lord to direct, as well as casting choices such as Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and of course, Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo. Other than that, tight lips have been kept around Lucasfilm on everything smuggler territory, until now that is.
Within its reveal of the new image, starwars.com gave a small glimpse into what fans should expect next year when we see our favorite smuggler take the screen once more:
The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.
Filming on the untitled young Han Solo spinoff is currently underway as production began yesterday at Pinewood Studios in London, the new home of everything Disney and Lucasfilm. Meaning that there’s a good chance fans will get some kind of teaser when Star Wars Celebration comes out of light speed here in a few months. Check out the first cast photo below and after doing so, let us know your thoughts in the comments. How does Ehrenreich look as the scruffy looking nerf herder? What are you most excited to see in the spinoff? Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s untitled young Han Solo Star Wars Story hits a galaxy near you on May 25, 2018.
