A brand new trailer for the Anne Hathaway led monster movie Colossal, which follows a young woman who, after losing her job and boyfriend in New York, moves back to her hometown, only to discover that she is somehow, and strangely, connected to a giant creature wrecking havoc over Seoul. This is trailer number two for Nacho Vigalondo’s sci-fi thriller comedy and so far, this is looking like a film not to be missed.
I didn’t know what to expect when the teaser trailer was released a handful of weeks ago, but after watching it, I was very pleasantly surprised but what kind of vibe this wacky movie gave off. The cast is very strong with Hathaway being joined by Kason Sudeikis, Dan Stevens, and Tim Blake Nelson, with both Hathaway and Sudeikis looking like this is a role we have yet to see them in. It also helps when the film gets great word of mouth, which Colossal has thanks to premieres at a festival or two last year.
But as for this trailer, the first full-length trailer, it didn’t live up to as much as I was hoping for. It almost feels like a little longer version of that first trailer, which shouldn’t be the case of a second trailer. Don’t get me wrong, I am still very interested in this concept and it looks great, but a second trailer should build off of the success of the first, instead, this trailer just continued where the last left off. And although I’m a bit disappointed, like I said above, I’m still very excited to watch Colossal because of not just that first teaser, but most of all, its word of mouth.
