Watch the Teaser Trailer for the Anne Hathaway Led Monster Movie ‘Colossal’

Ever wonder what it would be like to control a gigantic city-thrashing monster? Well, Anne Hathaway knows. The first teaser trailer for Colossal has been revealed, which follows a young woman who, after losing her job and boyfriend in New York, moves back to her hometown, only to discover that she is somehow, and strangely, connected to a giant creature wrecking havoc over Seoul.

Before getting a chance to watch this first trailer, I had only heard about this film once and that was when it was first announced. And receiving this trailer after hearing no castings or other developments is definitely a pleasant surprise. It’s a really strong teaser, one that grabs my attention right away. But by far, the best part of the trailer is that it shows close to nothing. It’s the perfect teaser. Just from a bit over a minute, we understand what the hell the film is about and which characters we’ll be following, what else do we need?

It looks interesting, unique, fun, and funny, but one thing that many may not be talking about is the subject matter it focuses on. Anne Hathaway’s character is a severe alcoholic and battles depression, and the trailer gives off the vibe that it will be focusing on that just as much as much as her controlling the massive monster.

It’s also worth noting that someone whose opinion I trust, has seen the film and says it’s just as incredible as he trailer makes you think. Clarke Wolfe over at Collider Video saw the film last year and not only recommended it, but said that it’s one of the most unique monster movies in recent years, and that Anne Hathaway has quite possibly never been better. Again, Wolfe is someone who’s in the know and a trustworthy source. Could Colossal be a big surprise in 2017? Check out the new trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Did you like this trailer just as much as I did? Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal smashes into theaters on April 7th, 2017 and stars Anne Hathaway, Dan Stevens, Jason Sudeikis, and Tim Blake Nelson.

The story follows a woman who moves back to her hometown after losing her job and boyfriend in New York, only to discover that she is somehow strangely connected to a giant creature that has materialized over Seoul and is wreaking havoc on the city.
