New ‘Justice League’ Image: Where’s Superman?

Although Justice League is still a solid 9 months away, we’ve seen plenty over the last number of weeks on the Zack Snyder directed film. But even though we have seen more than we thought we would to this point, that doesn’t mean it’s all that revealing, or any of it actually. Focusing on all the images released so Ben Affleck, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher & Gal Gadot in Justice Leaguefar, it’s all really much of the same, with most looking to take place within or outside the same building we got a glimpse of in that Comic Con footage last summer. Why am I mentioning all this? Because the latest look, thanks to Empire Magazine, is still much of the same.

While, honestly, I don’t care much for this new image as it’s just another “new” angle at Ben Affleck’s Batman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, the image once again raises a bigger question, where the hell is Superman?

Batman is obviously the most popular superhero out there, but this is Superman we’re talking about. How can he not be featured in anything Justice League coming out? Granted, it is only late January and the movie has a November release, but fans and professionals everywhere are asking the same question and why Warner Bros., DC, and more specifically Zack Snyder has not revealed at least a tease at the Man of Steel who (SPOILER) bit the dust in Batman v Superman. While it seems they won’t be showing us anything Supes for a little while, Snyder gave fans a bit of fresh air as he commented on Superman’s absence and what kind of role he’ll play in the movie:

“Superman does play a big part in this movie. His presence, and lack of presence, are big story points…”

I know a number of people who are annoyed and frustrated with Superman’s absence thus far, and hoping that his death in Batman v Superman will be washed away within the first act of Justice League. For me, it makes a ton of sense and I’m okay with Superman not showing up until late second act or even somewhere in the third. It fits the story and and if he does show up early, what was the point in *very loosely* adapting the Death of Superman in Batman v Superman? It would take away from the last 15 minutes of that movie.  Another question raised from his death is what will he come back as? Will he return as the ultimate savior the character is? Or will he come back as a foe to his fellow JL members?

What do you think? Are you annoyed that we haven’t seen anything Superman or are you just eating up everything being released? How about Supes? What will he come back as? Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be hitting theaters on November 17th, 2017.
