Although the Resident Evil franchise is considered by many to be average at best, it’s also considered to be the best video game franchise ever put to the screen. Sure, the quality always hasn’t bee great or even good, but the fact that there are six is definitely saying something. The sixth movie, which comes out this upcoming weekend and is titled The Final Chapter, is exactly that, the final movie of the franchise. Scroll down for more.
We’ve seen the trailers and my opinion and mine alone, it actually looks like it could be a fun little action movie. With that said, because of the last movie, I won’t really be walking in with any kind of expectations, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I have somewhat of a good time while watching it. That and it’s Milla Jovovich’s last time in this role. She’s stuck with this franchise from the beginning and seeing her ride one last time after doing so whether or not these movies did well at the box-office or with critics is pretty awesome. Plus, she kicks all kinds of ass, just like her fellow action heroine who has stuck with another average franchise in Underworld: Kate Beckinsale.
Think what you may about these movies, trust me, I’m not hating or anything if you have no absolute interest in these movies. But for me, although incredibly cheesy at times, there’s something about the twisted way they display zombie-like creatures and the action of killing them. I won’t be planning my weekend around giving it a shot in theaters, but I’m definitely going to make for a viewing of it when I get the chance.
With it being released here very shortly, the marketing has been amped up a bit here recently. TV spots will be spotted everywhere over the next few days, but until then, check out a new batch of images and character posters released, featuring all the main players involved in Alice’s final chapter. Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter hits theaters January 27th, 2017 and stars Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Ruby Rose, William Levy, and Iain Glen.
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
