First ‘CHiPs’ Trailer: Dax Shepard & Michael Pena Team Up as a Pair of CHP Officers

Warner Bros. has revealed the first trailer for their upcoming comedy CHiPs. The remake of the late ’70s, early ’80s TV show stars Dax Shepard – who also wrote and directed – as a former professional motorcycle rider looking for a little more flair in his life and Michael Pena, who’s a Federal agent going undercover in the California highway Patrol.

I don’t have any previous connections to this property, as the original show took place years before I was even an idea. So I’m solely going off of this modern-day take of the concept, and from the trailer, it looks like it could be quite a bit of fun. Shepard has always been outlandish when it comes to jokes and gags, but it never felt over-the-top in trailer because of the role he’s playing. And Michael Pena, we know he has obvious great comedy chops because of Marvel’s Ant-Man, so how can anyone not be exited to see him star in this type of role that should give him plenty to work with? Quite frankly, although I like what I see from the trailer, Pena is a huge reason as to why I want to give this movie a chance.

Check out the new trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Did you watch the original show? Do you like the idea of a big screen remake? How about the trailer? And the duo of of Shepard and Pena? Shepard’s CHiPs rides into theaters on March 24th, 2017 and also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Ryan Hansen, and Maya Rudolph.
