A new red band trailer has been released for Gold, which stars Matthew McConaughey as a failing business man desperate for a lucky break. As a last effort, he teams up with a just as luckless geologist, played by Edgar Ramirez, to search and find gold dee within the Indonesian jungle. It’s directed by Stephen Gaghan and also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Corey Stoll, Toby Kebbell, and Bruce Greenwood.
I’ve been keeping an eye on Gold ever since its initial trailer dropped a few months back. I enjoyed its first look at the film and with McConaughey taking on another transforming role, it just seemed like a film I would want to watch. It has a strong supporting cast and with a true story blueprint behind it, it could be a good surprise here in the month of January. As for this red band trailer, it doesn’t necessarily scream red band to me, but does feature a few moments that do make sense as to why it’s a red band. I’m always down for a exploration film (The Lost City of Z here in a few months), but most of the film looks like it will take place after the finding of gold, and I’m interested to see how those events are handled in comparison to those they’re based on. With very, very few movies to look forward to this month, Gold (along with Split) could be the bright spot we need.
Check out the brand new trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Did you know about this movie? What did you think about the trailer? How about McConaughey and the cast? Gaghan’s Gold will be released on January 27th, 2017 and stars Matthew McConaughey, Edgar Ramirez, Bryce Dallas Howard, Corey Stoll, Toby Kebbell, Rachael Taylor and Bruce Greenwood.
Gold stars Matthew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, a failing businessman and modern-day prospector desperate for a lucky break. As a last ditch effort, Wells teams up with an equally luckless geologist, played by Edgar Ramirez, to execute a grandiose plan: find gold deep in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia.
