New ‘Baywatch’ Trailer Focuses on the Action

Paramount has released a second trailer for Baywatch, the upcoming Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron led action comedy that’s based on the classic ’90s TV show. As with many ’90s TV shows being adapted to the big screen, Baywatch is taking the raunchy R-rated approach in a story that follows a new hotshot lifeguard (Efron) as he butts heads with the badass and universally loved head lifeguard of Baywatch, Mitch Buchannon (Johnson), until mysterious activities start to arise at a local beach club, leading Mitch and his team to come together and save the beach.

This is an interesting one. When the first trailer was released last year, I did like a good part of what I was watching. Some of the comedy worked, some of it didn’t. The action looked cool, but what else do we really expected with guys like Johnson and Efron in the leading roles? As for this trailer, it was so-so. Again, I like the action I’m seeing, but this movie is being marketed as a raunchy R-rated comedy, where are those moments? Part of me likes that there ins’t much of those moments because that hopefully means they’re being saved for the actual movie, but I still want a little tease leading into it.

So at this point, I’m withholding my judgement on Baywatch just because I’ve yet to see a single moment that has me stoked for this new iteration of this concept. What about you? How are you feeling about Baywatch? Did you like this new trailer? Seth Gordon’s Baywatch hits theaters on May 26th, 2017 and stars Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, and Priyanka Chopra.
