Warner Bros. has unveiled the first official trailer for Dunkirk, the World War II based film from acclaimed director Christopher Nolan. Written and directed by Nolan, Dunkirk tells the true story of the evacuation of Dunkirk, France during WWII as Allied forces were surrounded by German troops. The operation finished with saving an estimated 330,000 lives.
Per usual with Nolan, it looks like he’s pushing his boundaries further, both with the film and the experience. Not only is this the first time Nolan has developed a war and true story based film, but he and his Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shot the entire film on IMAX 65mm film and 65mm large-format, which no doubt promises a spectacular movie-going experience.
As for the trailer, and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t blown away or didn’t even love it. But I know that being from Nolan and the type of filmmaker he is, I don’t need a trailer to win me over. Whether the trailer is fantastic or just okay, I’m going to see this film. It’s a Christopher Nolan WWII true story based film, how can you say otherwise?
