It looks like there are plenty of other reasons to be excited for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story other than it being Star Wars and its first ever spinoff. Besides some of next year’s biggest movies’ trailers being attached, including the possibility of Star Wars: Episode VIII, it’s been revealed that select IMAX locations across the country will also debut 7 minutes of new footage/behind-the-scenes footage on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming World War II epic Dunkirk.
It has yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros. or IMAX, but special footage of both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were screened before other big IMAX films, almost setting this report in stone. Dunkirk tells the story of the evacuation of Dunkirk, France during WWII as Allied forces were surrounded by German troops. The operation finished with saving an estimated 330,000 lives. Written and directed by Nolan, it stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Harry Styles, James D’Arcy, and is released on July 21st, 2017.
