I’m excited to say that Justice League is less than a year away from its release. Zack Snyder’s third directorial effort in the DCEU will bring together some of DC comics’ biggest heroes. What more could we ask for as comic book movie geeks, then having Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg team up on the big screen? To answer my own question, why not an appearance from the seventh member of the Justice League in Green Lantern. If this latest rumor is true, it looks like Hal Jordan could make his debut in the DCEU in next year.
The Wrap is claiming that “a member of the Green Lantern Corps will be seen in Justice League in a key sequence.” This rumor is not as surprising as it is exciting. We know a Green Lantern Corps movie will be coming in 2020, but nobody is expecting Warner Bros. to hold off on debuting a character that popular for that long. The studio has been keeping quiet regarding when to expect a Green Lantern appearance, after that awful movie starring Ryan Reynolds just five years ago.
The key word in The Wrap’s report is “seen”, which suggest the role will be minor one, if not a cameo. Not to worry though, between now and the 2020 scheduled Green Lantern Corps is two Justice League films, including next year’s. There will be plenty of opportunities to see Hal Jordan and possibly more of the corps using the power of will to kick ass.
Take this rumor with a grain of salt. Should Green Lantern appear in Justice League, then I pray it doesn’t get spoiled in the trailers.
