The Long-Awaited First Trailer for Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Has Finally Arrived!

Finally, the first official trailer for Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast has been released. We’ve been treated to a teaser trailer and batch of images that have only given us a glimpse into this highly-anticipated film, now get swept off your feet with the first full-length trailer. Directed by Bill Condon, the film stars Emma Watson as the bright and beautiful young Belle who, after being taken prisoner by a beast in his castle, befriends the castle’s cursed residents and learns to look beyond the exterior of the beast and into the heart of the true Prince.

Straight of the bat, Disney looks to have another massive hit on their hands. While the decision to turn their animated classics into live-action films was questioned at first, it’s been a no-brainer in recent years with positive reactions (from both critics and audiences) and very strong box-office performances. Beauty and the Beast looks to not only continue that tradition, but build upon it.

Rather than focusing on the characters and setting as most first trailers do, this trailer decides to rely on its viewers knowledge and jumps right into action and emotional beats. While this version of the story will slightly differ from the original, the trailer gives only slight glimpse at Belle’s turn from hard working young woman to Disney Princess, Gaston and the crowd of beast-crazed villagers, and of course, the relationship between Belle and the cursed Prince. I haven’t seen the original animated film in a number of years, but I remember Beast being somewhat of a horror figure. While its just a trailer, that’s the challenge for Beauty and the Beast so far, to create an imposing yet charismatic character in Beast. The look of Beast is fascinating, but not too scary. Now it’s up to Condon and Dan Stevens to bring that kind of character to life. Either way, Beauty and the Beast looks to be an extremely promising adaptation, one that will hit all the right beats, as well as bring nostalgia to the table for multiple generations.

Check out the brand new trailer below and let us know all your thoughts in the comments. Have you liked everything on the film so far? Are you happy with the trailer? What are you most looking forward to? Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast is released on March 17th, 2017 and stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ian McKellan, Ewan McGregor, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Emma Thompson.

Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
