The last few years has seen Disney put together quite a resume regarding their coveted animated properties being revamped into live-action projects. So far we’ve seen four and with each film, the studio has gotten better and better with adapting the very loved films. We’ve seen such titles as Cinderella and The Jungle Book thus far, but what comes next is easily their biggest to date.
We’ve been lucky enough to experience a true teaser for Bill Condon’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, which debuted the very well-known castle and its halls. It was voiced over by two of the more exciting characters of Lumiere and Cogsworth, voiced by Ewan McGregor and Sir Ian McKellen, while also including a final, quick shot at Emma Watson’s Belle as she went for the famous rose. But now, with no true warning, Entertainment Weekly has revealed our real first look at the upcoming Disney film.
The new images and cover, which you can see below, feature some incredible looks at Emma Watson’s Belle, Kevin Kline’s Maurice, Luke Evan’s Gaston, Josh Gad’s Le Fou, Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), Lumière (Ewan McGregor), Plumette (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and of course Dan Stevens’ motion-captured/high-effects Beast. For what they are, they are truly beautiful shots, showcasing the characters, as well as the very strong and quite gorgeous set pieces. The one thing that we were all raving about following the teaser was the look at the film, and these new images continue to show what kind of beauty this film will featue.
I’m really starting to get excited for this film. Like I mentioned above, Disney has been getting better and better with their live-action takes on their highly popular animated movies. Did you see The Jungle Book? Plus you throw in a cast that may be one of the best all-around casts in a film in a long time and Beauty and the Beast is on a completely different level. It may have an early 2017 release date, but this movie has the chance to create an enormous amount of buzz, impacting the box-office, reviews, and possibly even awards.
Take a long look at the first look images below and give us your thoughts below in the comments. Did you like the teaser? Have you been looking forward to this film being turned into live-action? Are you happy with the cast? What about the images? Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast is released on March 17th, 2017 and stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ian McKellan, Ewan McGregor, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Emma Thompson.
