New ‘Free Fire’ Posters Take the Characters Down Range

If you haven’t heard of or seen anything on Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, I highly recommend watching the trailer at the link below. Wheatley isn’t a high-profile name, but he very well may be following Free Fire, a psychedelic action crime drama that stars names like Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, and Sharlto Copley. Wheatley, who is very well-known across the pond in the U.K., has had one big U.S. release in the form of last year’s High-Rise, which starred Tom Hiddleston. If the most recent Free Fire trailer and film festival buzz is any indication, Wheatley and his future projects could become major players.

As for Free Fire, the reason why we’ve yet to see a true marketing campaign begin is because the film does not yet have an official release date. All we really know is that it’s shooting for sometime in 2017. If we’re to go by Wheatley’s High-Rise from last year, which also traveled through the film festival circuit, we could expect to see Free Fire some time early in 2017. And while that isn’t ideal because it’s far away from awards season, Free Fire isn’t the award type, and that’s completely fine with me because that means I get to see it a hell of a lot earlier!

Be on the look out for any information regarding a release date and marketing campaign for Free Fire, it’s definitely a film to keep an eye out for. Take a look at both the new posters and red band trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Is it your type of film? Are you interested? What about the cast? Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire will be released some time in 2017 and stars Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, and Jack Reynor.

Set in late 70s Boston, the film stars Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Michael Smiley, Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley, Jack Reynor and Sam Riley. Larson plays Justine, a woman who has brokered a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen (Murphy, Smiley) and a gang led by Vernon (Copley) and Ord (Hammer) who are selling them a stash of guns. But when shots are fired in the handover, a heart-stopping game of survival ensues.
