‘Fantastic Beasts’ Character Posters Have the New Magical Faces Front & Center

While Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them lies within the epic Harry Potter universe, it does not feature of major players from those films (as far as we know). So yes, fans everywhere are ecstatic to jump back into J.K. Rowling’s world of wizards, but outside of those hardcore fans, many may still be pondering the idea. Like I said above, one of the biggest points this film has to get across is that although there is no Harry, Hermoine or Ron, it still has a group of characters well-worth seeing in the theaters.

So far, this film has done a fantastic job of marketing itself. Each new piece that comes out builds upon the last, with its latest finally focusing on the faces of this new magical franchise. There’s definitely still a ton of  mystery revolving around this film and its characters, but quietly, and thanks to Entertainment Weekly, these new posters include clues as to what expect from these new (most magical, a few that aren’t) players.

Fantastic Beasts takes place in 1926 New York City, where magizoologist Newt Scamander (played by Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne) finds himself running up against magicians in hiding and a government on its toes after part of his collection of some of the world’s most spectacular magical creatures escape on the streets of New York. Thanks to Collider, here’s a few details on some of the lesser known characters: “As the head of the New Salem Philanthropic Society, an organization that wants witches and wizards dead, Mary Lou is one of them. She has an adopted son named Credence, who may have some magical talent since the Auror Percival takes a special liking to him. Percival is also the right-hand man of President Picquery, head of the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA), an American version of sorts to the Ministry of Magic.”

Take a look a the new posters, and don’t forget to give us your thoughts in the comments below. Which character are you most looking forward to seeing? How have you liked the trailers? Are you a Harry Potter fan? David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters on November 18th, 2016 and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Ron Perlman, and Jon Voight.
