New ‘Doctor Strange’ IMAX Trailer Includes an Avengers Name Drop; See the Latest Posters

Marvel has released the final trailer for the MCU’s newest hero, Doctor Strange. While the main focus of the trailers so far have not only been to let us know that this is Marvel’s first mystical film, they’re also been on the much more serious side. It’s pretty much a given that Marvel films are light-toned and have fun, but all the footage we’ve seen from Doctor Strange has been the opposite, having us ask if we’ll be seeing any of Marvel’s humor. If the following new trailer has anything to say, we will indeed be seeing some of that Marvel funny that we just can’t seem to get enough of.

The new trailer for Scott Derrickson’s film gives us a much better idea as to what to expect from Doctor Strange. It does show stuff we’ve seen before, but features a ton of new footage as well, which includes a ton of action and some small comedy bits like I was talking about above.

Alongside the trailer release, Marvel revealed that fans will get a larger sneak peek at the film with select IMAX 3D footage at select locations on October 10th at 7pm. It will be featured at over 115 locations across North America and will feature “thrilling, never-before-seen 3D footage of the Scott Derrickson-directed movie.” Director Scott Derrickson had this to say about the 15 minute sneak peek:

“As a movie fan, I am thrilled to take audiences along on the visual journey of ‘Doctor Strange’ and give them an early peek at what we’ve been working on. The completed film will feature more than an hour of specially formatted IMAX sequences that will provide audiences with a totally immersive—and mind-blowing—film-going experience and I’m excited to share a taste of that with our fans on 10/10.”

While these sneak peeks are a fantastic marketing tool to get fans even more excited, I’m always a little cautious because they feature so much footage. Yes, it jumps around in the plot, but 15 minutes is quite a chunk of footage, especially for one that’s giving us an origin of a character we’re seeing for the first time. If that doesn’t bother you, here’s the link where you can get free tickets to the event. Until then, check out the new IMAX trailer for the Marvel movie, which is possibly its best yet. Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4th, 2016 and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton.

From Marvel comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying, and totally mind-bending journey when Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” opens in U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.
