Even though a number of fans (both hardcore and not) of the Warcraft video game franchise walked away from Duncan Jones’ adaptation pleased with its big screen debut, it, unfortunately, did not change the view of the video game genre whatsoever. Now, all eyes are beaming directly at Justin Kurzel and his upcoming adaptation of the hugely popular title Assassin’s Creed.
Keeping in mind Kurzel’s past work and how well both him and star Michael Fassbender worked together last year on Macbeth, there’s plenty to be excited about for this film. Although it looks and sounds like it’ll be a better outing than Warcraft, we won’t officially know until the movie is released later this year in December. Until then, we can gaze our eyes upon this new batch of images from the highly anticipated action period piece from 20th Century Fox.
Most of the images feature star Fassbender in a gritty, down and dirty action spot, but there are a few featuring his co-stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Michael K. Williams, and Ariane Labed. So far the movie looks like it’ll offer fans with something very different compared to its video game counterpart, as it presents uniqueness for Fassbender, who will be playing two different characters. But with that also comes a very different and unique viewing for audiences, something most, if not all, video game adaptations have been lacking.
Take a look at the latest batch of images below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Do you play the games? Have you liked the trailers? What kind of excitement level do you have? Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed hits theaters on December 21st, 2016 and stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Michael K. Williams, Ariane Labed, and Brendan Gleeson.
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
