From the very beginning, Disney has promised Moana to be unlike any animated film they’ve done thus far. Not only beautiful and adventure-filled content, but a subject and part of the world that is rarely touched on in film. There have been plenty of films that have touched on the Pacific Islander heritage, but none (that I can think of) dive into the culture like Moana looks to.
Disney has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming sea-adventure, with it being the most revealing out of the three trailers. Not that it gave away any spoilers, but it gave us a perfect tease of the story, characters, and ultimate end goal of the film. And like I said above, it really showcases just has much this film will not only dig into, but instruct audiences on the long-living culture and heritage of Pacific Islanders. Demi-gods, ocean magic, and cultural pieces that are passed from generation to generation. If this trailer does anything, it promises that Disney’s latest adventure is on an epic scale, one that calls everyones names and should just not be missed. Incredible music and a kick-ass hero (played by Dwayne Johnson, duh) and heroine all entwined with jaw-dropping visuals and a mythological based story that will not only leave you educated, but have a really good time at the movies.
Check out the brand new trailer for Moana below and let us know your thoughts on the trailer in the comments. How’d you like the trailer? Did it impact you like it did me? What’s your anticipation? Disney’s Moana sails into theaters November 23rd, 2016 and stars the voices of Dwayne Johnson, Auli’i Carvalho, and Alan Tudyk.
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows exactly why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
