‘The Rundown’ Director Wants Dwayne Johnson & Jonah Hill for the Sequel

rundown

The Rundown, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Sean William Scott, was a movie I watched countless times with my family. As a young teen who spent most of his childhood watching the attitude-era of pro wrestling, Johnson was a huge draw for me. His onscreen charisma, the comedic chemistry between him and Scott, and the heavy dosage of over-the-top action combined made The Rundown a helluva entertaining popcorn flick.

Thirteen years later and there’s still a demand for a sequel. Peter Berg, who directed the first film, was recently asked about an update on the long-awaited project. He confirmed that a script is very much in the works, and that Johnson’s busy schedule (Fast 8, Ballers, Shazam, etc) makes it difficult to pin point at likely start date. The big takeaway from Berg’s comments was his desire to cast Jonah Hill for the sequel.

Berg:

If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne and Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow.

…We actually wrote a script. But I want Jonah Hill, so reach out to Jonah. Pressure Jonah to do it. If Jonah Hill would do it, I’m in.

Alright film fans, you heard the man and you know the drill. Get on your twitter accounts and tweet, retweet, or simply like a post that’ll get Jonah Hill’s attention. I personally would love to see Hill star alongside Johnson. We know what he brings to action/comedies with the Jump Street films, which may have lost his interest due to their MiB crossover plans.

Its not surprising that Berg wants to recast the supporting character to play across from Johnson. Back then, Sean William Scott had a presence in Hollywood for being typecast, but nowadays he’s non-existent. As long as Johnson and Berg return, I think the interest for The Rundown 2 will be even stronger than it was ten years ago.
