One of the more exciting takeaways from the underwhelming marketing for X-Men: Apocalypse was getting to see the young team (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee) bond together outside of the X mansion. The chemistry between the young cast became one of the main highlights in the film overall. However, I felt left wanting more from the young cast, and a part of that comes from Bryan Singer‘s decision to cut the mall scene.
Singer confirmed a blu-ray cut would include the scene, but as a cool treat to the fans, the footage has been released online. Not only is the scene filled with plenty of fun moments, but we also get A LOT more from the Jubilee character (played by Lana Condor).
Its understandable why Singer cut this scene out. By the final battle, the film was already feeling a bit too long, which is never a good thing. Still, its great to see the chemistry between these young actors remain strong, and I’m excited to see more of these characters moving forward. Lets hope X-Men: New Mutants continues the young adult vibe featured in this scene.
