Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Allied. The romantic/drama/spy/thriller is from acclaimed director Robert Zemeckis and stars Brad Pitt as an intelligence officer who encounters an French Resistance Fighter (Marion Cotillard) in 1942 North Africa. Reunited in London, tensions rise and their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of war.
Zemeckis is one of the greatest directors of this generations, with such credits as Back to the Future, Forest Gump, Cast Away, and more to his name. But the past decade or so hasn’t been so successful for the director, with films like Flight and The Walk not being as rememberable. It’s not that they’re bad, they just didn’t reach the level of his previous work, but Allied looks like it has great potential to reach that level. He has all the pieces in place, it’s very exciting to see Zemeckis dipping his hands in the WWII genre with two of the greatest working actors today, maybe even ever. As for the footage, it’s fantastic and has a very sharp, stylish look/tone to it, something that fits the time period very well.
Check out the beautiful first trailer below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Are you a fan of Zemeckis’ work? What did you think of the trailer?
