Screen Gems has released the first official trailer of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the first and fifth movie in the franchise, returns to direct the final installment in the long-running series in which is based on the hugely popular video game franchise. The Final Chapter picks up immediately after the events of Resident Evil: Retribution and stars none other than Milla Jovovich as Alice, who finds herself as the only survivor of what was meant to be mankind’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where it all began, Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Cooperation is preparing its final strike against the survivors of the apocalypse.
The first thought that crossed my mind after watching this trailer was, “This is definitely a Resident Evil movie.” It clearly follows the same suit of its predecessors. They may not be the best movies ever made, but the Resident Evil franchise is the most successful video game franchise to date, why change it if it has succeeded time and time again the past? And I’m not afraid to say it, this final movie looks like quite a bit of fun. It’s action on top of action on top of action, and if you go in knowing what you’re getting into to, this final ride for both the Resident Evil franchise and Milla Jovovich should be quite a bit of fun.
Check out the first trailer below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Are you a fan of the franchise? What did you think of the trailer? Excited for one last ride? Paul W.S.
