Optimus Prime Is Ready for Battle in the First ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Poster

Although the movie is still nearly a year away, it seems the marketing campaign for the sorta kinda wanted fifth installment into Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise as the first poster for Transformers: The Last Knight has been released online. Bay returns for a fifth go-around in the franchise with Mark Wahlberg returning to his role of struggling inventor Cade Yaeger.

While Optimus Prime has always been the face of the franchise, the subtitle for this film hints that a major focus will be on OP, who we last saw skyrocketing into space to hunt down “The Creators.” Bringing back Wahlberg means that the movie will have a decent size human element, but how much will that be now that the Autobots’ leader is in space, solo, hunting down those who continue to bring chaos down upon them? It’ll be very interesting once we get any kind of story details and/or a trailer. The only for sure thing at this point is that we’ll be getting massive explosions and destruction, in true Michael Bay fashion.

As for the poster, it’s a pretty cool look at Optimus wielding that badass sword and his new look. Not only that, but we get a slight tease at what kind of foe he’ll be going up against, as the opposers look like some Transformer-ized prehistoric animals (did that make sense?). Hopefully The Last Knight broadens the scope of Transformers universe, especially since Optimus was shooting into the galaxies above us the last time we saw him. I’m interested in the human element of the film and I hope it works (better than previous), but I’m much more interested in the Optimus storyline, if that’s the route they do indeed go.

Check out the new banner below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Are you excited for The Last Knight? What about Bay returning to direct? What are you hoping to see? Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters June 23, 2017 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner, and Anthony Hopkins.

  1. The poster looks cool (thank guys for posting it). However, I’m leery about this film. I don’t know. It will be interesting to see where it will go, but my expectations have declined as with the movies.

    • It’s hard to get excited when Michael Bay keeps returning to direct the same movie over and over again. I hope they take this next one in a completely new direction, but again, Bay is behind the camera.
