The Impossibilities Are Endless in the New ‘Doctor Strange’ Trailer

As part of their show-stopping panel at San Diego Comic-Con Saturday evening, Marvel released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Doctor Strange. The film will introduce Marvel’s latest hero to join the MCU, as Benedict Cumberbatch dawns the cape of Dr. Steven Strange, a talented surgeon who after a devastating accident that leaves him crippled, discovers the realms of mysticism and alternate dimensions.

Up against its teaser trailer, this trailer is not only much fuller, but has a much bigger impact. Outside of the die-hards, many fans didn’t really know what was going on in the teaser, whereas the following trailer focuses on the main story, highlighting the master/padawan (if you will) relationship between Cumberbatch’s Strange and Tilda Swinton’s The Ancient One. We also get great shots of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, and Benedict Wong, who all seem to have studied under The Ancient One at one point, or at least her ways. There’s no doubt that, just as Guardians of the Galaxy was, this could be a complete game-changer for Marvel and their cinematic universe (both visually and storytelling). Not only is Strange a completely different hero from anything we have in the MCU so far, but the world (dimensions, really) he operates in is a level the MCU hasn’t reached yet, bringing something totally new and fresh  to the forefront.

Check out the brand new trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. How much mind-bending did it do? Are you excited for something this different? What does this trailer do for your excitement level? Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4th, 2016 and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
