Major studio executives seem to have their eye on Game of Thrones talent. Emilia Clarke (Terminator: Genisys), Sophie Turner (X-Men: Apocalypse), Nathalie Emmanuel and Kristofer Hivju (Fast 8) have all found themselves some high profile gigs, and it looks like the trend continues next year with Charles Dance rumored to join Justice League.
Dance gave a compelling performance as the villainous Tywin Lannister in the hit HBO TV show. Similar to the late Christopher Lee, this man has a distinct voice and has a natural talent at portraying a powerful onscreen villain. This rumor, courtesy of a Twitter handle called Wayne Enterprises, doesn’t specify its sources or what kind of character Dance could play. However, I have to believe it was his performance as Tywin that won the producers of Justice League over, and so he could very well be playing the confirmed villain of the film, Stepphenwolf, who as many fans know is the general of the Apokolips army and the uncle of Darkseid.
Also rumored for a role in Justice League are actors Colin Farrell (True Detective Season 2) and Michiel Huisman (also from Game of Thrones). This comes from a Russian Twitter account called CutTheCrapTV, which once again doesn’t name their sources or specify the characters these actors could be playing. Should these rumors have any truth to it, both actors would be strong additions to the already massive ensemble. Farrell has been on a hot streak, giving strong performances, even in not-so great movies or TV shows. Huisman has also been great as the leader of the Second Sons and the sword of Dany Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Filming for the show’s Season 7 won’t begin for awhile, making his involvement in the currently in production Justice League more of a possibility.
Even if the rumors end up not being true, I love the kind of talent Warner Bros is going for. As of right now, Justice League’s main villain Stepphenwolf has yet to been cast, but during the recent press visit, the producers hinted the role is currently being offered to someone known by audiences. With Comic Con coming up later this month, I’m expecting an announcement then, but for now which of these names excite you the most?
