After nearly a week tease, Paramount Pictures has finally, officially released the first trailer for Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Edward Zwick took the helm for the sequel, stepping in for Christopher McQuarrie who directed the original, and Tom Cruise reprising his role as the titular character.
The film see’s Cruise’s Reacher returning to his roots doing what he does best, uncovering people of power, until he discovers that the woman chosen to take over his job as Head of MP has been arrested and charged with espionage. Reacher being Reacher, he breaks her out of Military prison and the two go up against the law to uncover those who blackmailed her, with a few fights along the way.
While I know a number of people who weren’t the biggest fans of Jack Reacher, I for one freaking loved it. At the time, I thought it was one of Cruise’s best action movies. So it’s safe to say I’ve been pumped for this sequel and more specifically, this trailer. And I’ve got to say, the trailer lived up to my hype. Cruise looks to be back in full Reacher mode, and having an actress like Cobie Smulders play opposite of Cruise is fantastic. Not just that, but the action looks like its been kicked up a few notches and how can you not love that? Plus at this point, how can you not buy anything Tom Cruise is involved in?
Watch the first trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Do you like the original? Are you a fan Tom Cruise action movies? What did you like about the trailer and has it changed your thoughts on the sequel? Edward Zwick’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back hits theaters October 21st, 2016 and stars Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, Holt McCallany, and Robert Knepper.
Jack Reacher heads back to his old military base in Virginia to take a woman to dinner who is now the commanding officer. By the time he gets there, she has been arrested, and Reacher finds himself being charged with pummeling one guy and fathering a child with a woman. He can’t remember either transgression but gets to the bottom of it with cunning and sometimes brute force.
