The First Trailer for Disney’s ‘Moana’ Teases Open Water Adventure

At long last, the first teaser trailer for Disney’s upcoming animated feature Moana has been released. The film stars the voices of Dwayne Johnson as the demi-god Maui, and Auli’i Carvalho as the titular character Moana as she sets sail to prove herself as a master wayfinder and fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest, with the help of Johnson’s once-mighty demi-god.

This film has been hyped up for as long as I can remember. Not only because Disney has solidified their name in the animated genre as of late, but because it’s based on source material that is rarely explored. And if we’re to take anything away from this teaser, Moana promises to be a beautiful, colorful, and fun journey that features strong musical and magical elements as well. Not to mention that The Rock’s animated version of himself is extremely accurate, right down to the facial expressions and chest pops.

Watch the new teaser below and let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Have you been looking forward to the film? What did you think of the teaser? Does it excite you? Directed by the renowned duo of Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin), Moana sails into theaters November 23rd, 2016.

In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
