The Final ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer Packs a Massive Punch

cf7kkqeuuaeqameIt was revealed over the weekend that 20th Century Fox would be releasing the final trailer for their upcoming seventh X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, early this morning to kick off the week. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and continues the so-called “First Class” trilogy set by Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. It sees Days of Future Past stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters back in their mutant roles with a number of newcomers joining the fight.

Apocalypse follows Professor X, Raven, and a young team of X-Men as they go up against their greatest threat, the world’s first mutant Apocalypse and his Four Horseman, who look to cleanse mankind and create a new world order. Just as with Marvel and their own cinematic universe, anytime there’s a new X-Men film, we’re all pretty freaking excited. Days of Future Past set a new standard for this franchise, giving a little bit of cleanse to itself. And with Bryan Singer returning for the sequel with a phenomenal storyline and even stronger characters, Apocalypse has the chance to be one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. And this final trailer makes an extremely strong case towards that argument.

For me, each trailer has gotten stronger and stronger. Ever so slightly Apocalypse has washed away the stink of the look of Apocalypse and gotten people to buy back in. From that Super Bowl TV spot on, the footage and marketing have been pinpoint. Not releasing anywhere near to much, but giving us just a bit more each time to make us want more. We finally get a bit more story in this final trailer, as well as some badass action shots, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

While other may complain that they are banking of Jennifer Lawrence’s star power by putting her front-and-center, I love the idea of her Raven/Mystique becoming leader of the X-Men. Her character, her arc has come full circle. And remember, Days of Future Past wiped the slate clean, creating an entire new timeline, creating different paths for these characters. Seeing the regional trio of Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey back (just younger) is just as awesome as I would have hoped, Singer looks like he is finally giving these characters their due diligence. And that action, man it looks incredible. It looks like the kind of superhero epicness that make my jaw drop. Being a final trailer, they saved the best for last. It gave us everything we needed to be completely sold on this film. So much so that I’m regretting not putting it on my Top 10 Most Anticipated of 2016 list. I’m all in on Apocalypse, are you? …Wolverine!

Watch the massive new trailer below and let us know your thoughts on it in the comment below! Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27th, 2016 and stars Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ben Hardy and Lana Condor.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven with the help of Professor X must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
