New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’ Trailer is a Surprising Good Time

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for their upcoming sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. There is no official synopsis for the movie at this point, but it’s clear that the sequel is further building on this mythos of the Turtles, with them finally embracing who they are and, wait for it… Stepping out of the shadows (see what I did there?). It will also see the Turtles taking on some of their most iconic villains, including Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang.

The action sequel is directed by Earth to Echo helmer Dave Green, which points towards the sequel being aimed towards younger audiences. With that in mind, this new trailer is surprisingly a good time. There’s some snazzy new action, good jokes, and a ton of fun. While the original may not have lived up to its potential, they’ve taken a different approach to the sequel and they may very well have caught their stride with this franchise. I’ll still be going in with somewhat low-expectations, but I did so with the original as well and had a decent time. Hopefully the sequel can match that, or even step up its game.

Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think of it in the comments below. Did you enjoy it? Are you looking forward to Out of the Shadows? What’s your expectation level? Dave Green’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows opens June 3rd, 2016 and stars Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Laura Linney, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Gary Anthony Williams, Stephen Farrelly and the voices of Johnny Knoxville as Leonardo, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Tony Shalhoub as Splinter.
