Just this morning (finally) saw the long-awaited teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story released. We’ve been waiting months to get a glimpse at Gareth Edwards’ highly, highly-anticipated take on the galaxy far, far away that’s set in a time period of civil war before Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Thanks to Good Morning America, our first look at the film comes with a good amount of footage to geek out about, as well as an abundance of joy.
The trailer runs close to 90 seconds long, and gives us our first look at Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso, as well as that breathtaking shot of the Death Star and intense action sequence involving our heroes dodging AT-AT blasters. We also get clear looks at Donnie Yen’s Samurai looking character and Ben Mendelsohn’s Grand Admiral villain, which includes that badass shot of him walking on water. You can see that and so much more in over 55 trailer images from the Rogue One teaser below.
The film stories events that were alluded in the original trilogy, as it will follow a band of Rebels who set out to steal the plans to the Death Star. It’s directed by Gareth Edwards, who blossomed onto the scene following his debut film Monsters, which showcased his inventive and visual mind. That was followed by his first big-budget attempt Godzilla, which is one of the best blockbusters of the last few years. And if this trailer is any indication, he looks to continue that and even push it further with Rogue One.
