Here’s a New ‘Doctor Strange’ Image with Benedict Cumberbatch; First Trailer Is Coming Next Week!

Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor StrangeHold on to your butts Marvel fans! With Captain America: Civil War now exactly one month away, Disney is kicking up the film’s marketing a few notches. The month leading up to every film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, Disney has marketed the film in a way to make it an event. And that’s no different with the highly, highly-anticipated Civil War, which come with some juicy goodness for their second MCU entry of 2016, Doctor Strange.

For starters, Disney has unveiled a brand new image for Scott Derrickson’s upcoming psychedelic Marvel film. While I was cool with Cumberbatch being cast as the character, I thought it was a bit to safe for Disney and Marvel because it was such a perfect choice. But as production has rolled on, I’m really, really starting to dig what I’m seeing. Just as I said, Cumberbatch is a perfect casting and as I expected, completely embodies the character as far as look goes. They are just images, but I’m starting to get insanely excited about this completely new kind of Marvel film. Scroll down below to see a bunch of new on-set images featuring Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen in costume.

Now on to the goodies. Alongside the new image, it’s been revealed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will host a Marvel-themed week of shows starting this Monday, April 11th. Monday’s show will feature “Team Cap” with Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Paul Rudd. That will be followed by “Team Iron Man” on Wednesday with Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, Paul Bettany, and Chadwick Boseman. But it’s what is planted in-between that’s most exciting.

Steve Strange himself Benedict Cumberbatch will be Kimmel’s special guest on Tuesday, April 12th, where he’ll be debuting the first trailer for Doctor Strange. Just like Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange is unknown to pretty much all of the average movie-going audience, but that’s what makes it so intriguing. This is expected to be Marvel’s “weirdest” film yet, so I’m hugely excited to see what the footage looks like. It’s being directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), which follows an arrogant and conceited surgeon who, after a career-ending accident, gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against some very real mysticism. To go with that sweaty goodness, Derrickson has assembled quite possibly Marvel’s best ensemble yet, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton joining Cumberbatch.

So what do you think guys? How about the new image of Cumberbatch donning those awesome duds? What about the news that we’ll be getting its first trailer next week? What are you most excited to see? What do you want to see? Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4th, 2016.
