John Travolta Seeks Revenge in the First Trailer for ‘I am Wrath’

Finally! An opportunity to talk about John Travolta, an actor who has been around my life since my early days of watching movies. Folks in my family are huge Travolta fans, therefore I watched some of Travolta’s classics like Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Urban Cowboy at a relatively early age. Then in the early 00’s, just as I was entering Middle School, I became a big Travolta fan with films like Face Off and Broken Arrow. I even enjoy some of his mediocre films like Basic, Swordfish, Be Cool, while today I cherish films like Get Shorty and Pulp Fiction.

Travolta is one of the main reasons why I actively watch American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson. So when I heard that a trailer released for his new film I am Wrath, not another minute was wasted as I quickly saw the trailer. I’ll say it right now, an older 90’s version of Travolta doesn’t work so well in 2016.

The film stars Travolta and Christopher Meloni (Law & Order, Man of Steel) as two men who can straight up kick anyone’s butt. The plot involves Travolta’s character suffering a personal tragedy and revisiting his old assassin ways to seek revenge. When watching the trailer, you’ll notice about half way some similarities between this film and a better one called John Wick. Its pretty much the same exact thing.

If anything, this movie looks like it could be fun. The combination of the trailer music and Travolta and Meloni kicking-ass is enough to tell me this could be a good time. I can almost guarantee myself that I’ll be making fun of this film (that hair piece which I’m not sure what they were going for). I think Travolta is better than this, however, he minus well be collecting paychecks and making these action movies while he still can. Check out the trailer below, and share your favorite Travolta films/roles.

I Am Wrath arrives on VOD April 15th and has a theatrical opening on May 13th.

SYNOPSIS: Unemployed engineer Stanley Hill (Travolta) witnesses the brutal murder of his wife Vivian (Rebecca De Mornay, TV’s Jessica Jones) who was attacked by thugs in a parking garage. When Detective Gibson (Sam Trammell, True Blood) and other corrupt police officers are unable and unwilling to bring the killers to justice, Stanley turns to his old friend Dennis (Christopher Meloni, Man of Steel, TVs Law & Order) and decides to take matters into his own hands. It is only then that Stanley and Dennis are found to have a mysterious past that, until now, they kept very well hidden.

As they wreak their revenge, those involved in the cover up realize that Stanley and Dennis are more dangerous than they could have ever imagined…
