Michael Fassbender & Alicia Vikander Lead the Fantastic Trailer for ‘The Light Between Oceans’

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming drama The Light Between Oceans. The film is directed by Derek Cianfrance and stars Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender, Oscar-nominated actress Alicia Vikander and Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz. Based on the book by M.L. Stedman, The Light Between Oceans is set on an island set off the coast of Western Australia after World War I where a lighthouse keeper and his wife find a 2-month old baby girl in an adrift rowboat (alongside a dead body) and decide to raise her as their own. But what started as a blessing soon becomes a test or morality and love.

It’s a really well done trailer. While it does show quite a bit of footage for a first trailer, there still feels like there’s plenty there to check it out in theaters. But by far, by far the reason I’ll be seeing this is because of th ultimate power couple in Fassbender and Vikander. Fassbender had quite possibly the best single performance of last year in Steve Jobs. And Vikander, she skyrocketed and became my favorite actress of today because of her unbelievable 2015 with such films like Ex Machina and The Danish Girl. With there being a very high chance that they both walk away from the Sunday night’s Oscars with little golden men in hand, how could I not want to see what they do next?

Take a look at the new trailer below and jump in the comments to let us know what you think. Did you like the trailer as much as I did? Why or why not? How about the terrific cast and their performances? Derek Cianfrance’s The light Between Oceans has a September 2nd, 2016 release date.
