It’s official, James Gunn’s highly anticipated sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has officially started filming. And to mark the occasion, the official cast list for the film has been released, as well as a first teaser image! The film will see Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel return as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, as well as Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn and Karen Gillain as Yondu, Kraglin and Nebula. While that’s all good and dandy, the more interested stuff is below.

Alongside all the returning members, Vol. 2 will feature a number of new faces including Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Chris Sullivan (The Knick) and the great Kurt Russell. James Gunn did reveal who Klementieff will be playing via Twitter this morning, which you can see below, but unfortunately that’s all we know at this point. It has been rumored for some time now that Russell could be playing Star-Lord’s father, but nothing has been confirmed to this point. And because our heroes are pretty well set, it seems fitting that a few of these names will be featured on the other side of the coin.

Principal Photography Begins in Atlanta for May 5, 2017 Release

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 17, 2016) – Marvel Studios has begun principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, on Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” which is slated to hit U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017. The production will shoot at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios.

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.
