‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Begins with a Production Announcement Trailer!

Folks, it’s official. The cameras are now rolling on Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII. It was announced early this morning that the film has officially begun production, and because the people over at Disney and Lucasfilm are just swell, the news came with a quick bit of awesome teaser footage of the eighth installment into the coveted franchise.

Along with the first look, they’ve announced the official cast for the upcoming film. Episode VIII will see Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis all return. They will be joined by a few new faces, which include Benicia del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran. Although Episode VIII is still nearly two years away, it’s still extremely exciting to see all this happening! With Disney/Lucasfilm releasing a cool little announcement teaser at the opening of filming, expect to see many more of these teases as production moves along. Get excited people!

Watch the official announcement trailer below, which features what looks like a transitional scene between The Force Awakens and Episode VIII, or as I hope, an entire new scene all together! It also gives a cool look at director Rian Johnson welcoming the cast, crew, and fans across the world to Episode VIII.
