It feels like that talk about Bad Boys 3 has been going on for years now. Not only has the studio and producers talked about it, but franchise star Will Smith has teased the possibility quite a bit over the last few years. But even so, it’s never really been clear as to how Smith and co-star Martin Lawrence would be involved in the third installment; would they return to star? Have “featured” cameos? Or maybe just stay on to produce? The question has been out there for some time, and it looks like we may finally have an answer.
While speaking with BBC Radio 1, Smith dropped a few juicy comments about the sequel, as well as meeting back up with his long-time friend Lawrence:
“I saw Martin [Lawrence] a few weeks ago,” Smith reveals. “I haven’t seen him for about two years. We just looked at each other. We hugged. In that moment, we knew we were making another Bad Boys. We’re definitely doing another one.”
Although “definitely” is a word that can go many different ways, it’s the only hard piece of evidence we have to go on at the moment. It’s also worth mention the “We just looked at each other. We hugged.” because that is probably more to go off of then the “definitely.” From the sounds of it, it sounds like both Smith and Lawrence feel like it’s just right to make a return in a full-fledged sequel, something that has been wanted for quite some time now.
The studio has actually already marked down Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4 for February 17th, 2017 and July 3rd, 2019, but as always that can change at any time depending on the look of its production. But as far as Smith’s comments go, it sure feels like they’re prepping a return and I couldn’t be more excited if that’s the case.
