The upcoming Power Rangers movie has already cast its Power Rangers with mainly unknowns. Its obvious this movie is going to need to cast a familiar name to elevate this IP, and to also help with the marketing. However, the casting of Elizabeth Banks as fan-favorite villain Rita Repulsa is so perfect.

Banks is known by many as a comedic actress, and a good one at that. She’s also demonstrated the ability to transform herself into a completely unrecognizable character. I’m talking about her role as Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games franchise. Her work as that character makes me so confident in her to portray an evil, but fun (possibly sexy) villain in Rita. I’m excited to she what she’ll bring to the role.
