It’s easier to believe that the Batman v Superman comic-con announcement was almost three years ago over the movie now being just a little over two months out. It feels like we’ve been waiting nearly a decade for clearly the biggest comic book movie ever to come out, well we’ve really been waiting forever for this specific one to hit screens. Anyway. For the first time ever, we’ll finally be able to see both Batman and Superman share the screen and man oh man are we hoping it lives up to the hype.
When we witnessed the first footage of the movie at last year’s comic-con, it was off to a pretty epic start. Sure, there was a little backlash by fans about the casting of Ben Affleck as the new Dark Knight, but that first trailer wiped all that non-sense pretty clean. Then that second trailer was released, a trailer that gave away way to much (basically the entire film) of the story and may have had some worried (me being one). However, even though it feels like we now know the entire film and the fact that the trailer crossed out
Batman v Superman and ran with just Dawn of Justice, it is still the first time we’re seeing these two iconic characters on screen together. No matter your feelings towards the film, positive or negative, there’s no way you won’t be sprinting your ass off to see the movie when it opens.
Although some were expecting to see a third trailer closer to its release, it looks like that may not be happening. Warner Bros. has started releasing TV spots for the film to really kick-off its marketing, which is usually a sign of no more full-length trailers. So on top of the new spots, which you can see below, expect to see much more of the DC epic in many forms other than just a trailer.
Just a quick comment on the spots, specifically the first. For a studio that said this DC extended universe would be dark, gritty, and very, very light on the comedy, they have released some moments that are quite funny. The spots is definitely a serious dramatic moment, but I got a laugh out of seeing the Batmobile take quite a beating from an action-less Supes. He just swats away one of Bats most prized possessions away like a fly on a wall, which is realistic if these two were going at it. I’m very interested to see this entire scene play out. Is this their first meeting? Hopefully a decent-sized scuffle between the two before and/or after? After all, it is called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25th, 2016.
