Here Are 2 New TV Spots & the First Official Clip for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Anyone care to guess how many TV spots we’ll have by the time ‘The Force Awakens‘ hits theaters? I think we’re at 8 spots right now, but I could be wrong. Anyways, we’ve now reached the point in the film’s marketing where we’re now getting short clips. Luckily for us idiots watching, this footage contains non-spoilers.

Starting with the 8th spot and its beautiful John Williams music. Nothing says Star Wars like the main (original) theme. We finally get some Oscar Isaac as X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron leading his squadron into battle. Hopefully they’ll be enough action to include an epic aerial dogfight between x-wings and tie fighters. Once again, the TV spot highlights the battle between Finn and a storm trooper, perhaps to remind people these won’t be the same puny storm troopers from the original trilogy. Lastly, BB-8 channels his inner Spider-Man in a cool way to hang on while our heroes escape trouble.

The 9th TV spot begins with Maz Katana (Lupita Nyong’o) speaking words of wisdom to Rey. “Dear child, the belonging you seek is not behind you. It is ahead“, she says. Sooner or later we’re going to learn what exactly she’s talking about. If I had to guess, its Maz telling Rey that where she belongs is discovered somewhere in her journey ahead. That she was meant to do more and be more than what she is now. Just like a certain someone from a long time ago. That journey includes many dangers and destruction, as shown throughout the TV spot. Lastly, we get some sort of nazi-like salute by the storm troopers of The First Order. Crazy.

As I mentioned above, we have our first clip for the film. Its a familiar shot that we’ve seen in previous trailers, showing Rey and Finn run from the destruction in Jakku. Except there’s back and forth banter between the two, as they improvise on the spot. Some people aren’t a fan of Finn’s yelling, but wouldn’t you be shouting with The First Order right on your ass? Their relationship will be something I’m looking forward to when the film arrives.

Check out the TV spots and 1st clip below, if you haven’t already. See if you can spot this Millennium Falcon in the last video…
