Posters: ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, ‘In the Heart of the Sea’, ‘The Big Short’ & More

Here are the latest batch of posters from the last week or so, and it’s a pretty damn good one. It includes quite possible the most anticipated film of all-time with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ron Howard and Chris Hemsworth’s sea adventure epic In the Heart of the Sea, Adam McKay’s The Big Short featuring an all-star cast, The Finest Hours starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck, Band of Robbers, and the critically acclaimed indie film Carol.

Obviously the biggest standout is The Force Awakens IMAX poster, it’s flat-out beautiful. Capturing our new hero from the galaxy far, far away as she walks into the sunset (maybe sunrise?) of her home planet Jakku with her loyal, friendly and oh so adorable droid BB-8. As one who is attending the IMAX show opening night, I cannot freaking wait to get my hands on one of these. Of course, I geek out over the films official poster featuring the new universe of characters (with some old faces), but this is THE poster for me. It’s simple, yet completely stunning. It’s everything I’ve come to expect from this Star Wars.

Other than that, the most eye-popping one comes from In the Heart of the Sea. My favorite shot from any of the trailers is the frame of the slow-mo view of the whale’s eye as he and Chris Hemsworth’s character are staring at each other. It gives me chills and excitement every time I see it, so to see it featured as a poster is really cool.
