Adam Sandler once again let me his longtime fans down with this year’s Pixels. For me, it was a last chance for Sandler as a comedic lead to give us something to hold on to, in hopes that one day he’ll be the comedic force he once was. Since then, I’ve given up hope on that. Even with his upcoming project, The Ridiculous 6, being a Netflix original film, I cannot buy into another comedy film with him in the lead.
The first trailer for The Ridiculous 6 has arrived, and it looks like Sandler’s streak of misses will continue. While there’s an impressive ensemble in this second Netflix original film, I’ve seen many of these a names together in previously underwhelming comedy films.
While I remain far from interested in seeing Sandler in a comedic role, its because this is a first of a four picture deal between Sandler and Netflix that I’m curious to see if it pays off for Netflix. There’s certainly an audience for the type of comedy films Sandler has done in recent years, and because its a Netflix exclusive there’s no reason to think it won’t be a modest success.
